ASIBeyond 2026 Research Agenda
We've completed our first industry intelligence cycle and set our research direction for 2026. Here's what we're working on.
The Landscape
Major AI labs now project artificial superintelligence within 2-5 years. Whether or not you accept those timelines, the direction is clear: AI systems are rapidly approaching and exceeding human-level performance across cognitive domains.
Yet the institutions, economic structures, and governance frameworks needed to navigate this transition remain critically underdeveloped. That gap is what ASIBeyond exists to close.
2026 Research Calendar
Q1-Q2: Cognitive Sovereignty
Our first working paper examines what independent judgment means when AI systems can construct more persuasive arguments than any human. We're developing the Nous framework — a toolkit for assessing and defending epistemic autonomy.
Q2: Transition Dynamics
Building on the NBER's work on "superabundant AI economics," we'll publish our first scenario analysis of labor market transitions under various ASI emergence timelines.
Q3: Containment Architecture
A review of institutional design for ASI governance — what works, what doesn't, and what we can learn from nuclear arms control (and where that analogy fails).
Q4: Annual Research Summary
Our first comprehensive report, synthesizing findings across all four research domains.
How We Work
ASIBeyond is not a technology company. We don't build AI. We study the consequences of others building it.
Our methodology combines scenario modeling, institutional analysis, and cross-disciplinary synthesis. We aim for work that is rigorous enough for researchers and readable enough for policymakers.
All research publications will be freely available on this site.
