ASIBeyond Research Institute was founded on a single premise: the most important question in AI is not how do we build superintelligence — it is what do we do when it arrives.
We are an independent research organization focused on post-singularity preparedness. Our work spans transition dynamics, containment architecture, post-scarcity economics, and cognitive sovereignty.
Why Now
The race toward artificial superintelligence is accelerating. Yet the institutions, frameworks, and governance structures needed to navigate this transition remain critically underdeveloped. ASIBeyond exists to close that gap — not by slowing progress, but by ensuring civilization is prepared for its consequences.
Our Approach
We combine rigorous theoretical research with practical scenario modeling. Our team draws from computer science, economics, philosophy, political science, and defense studies to build comprehensive frameworks for the post-ASI world.

Cognitive Sovereignty

When AI systems can argue more convincingly than any human, how do individuals maintain independent judgment? In September 2025, Google DeepMind added a new Critical Capability Level for "harmful manipulation" to its Frontier Safety Framework — acknowledging that AI persuasion capabilities now pose systemic risks.
Nous is our cognitive sovereignty assessment toolkit — it measures vulnerability to AI-mediated persuasion and provides frameworks for maintaining epistemic independence.
Current focus areas:
- Mapping the cognitive pathways through which AI-generated content influences human decision-making
- Developing frameworks for "cognitive defense" — not against AI, but against the erosion of independent thought

Transition Dynamics Modeling

When cognitive labor is no longer scarce, economies restructure. A 2025 NBER study on "The Economics of Superabundant AI" models two scenarios: in a "co-pilot" regime humans remain valuable because compute is scarce, but in a "compute glut" scenario, all humans with less knowledge than AI become unemployed. In 2025, 55,000 job cuts were directly attributed to AI — the highest level of AI-driven displacement on record.
Meridian is our scenario modeling engine — it simulates economic restructuring and policy outcomes under different ASI emergence timelines.

Containment Architecture

Not alignment in the narrow technical sense, but the broader institutional challenge. In early 2026, Anthropic — the company that built its reputation on safety — dropped the central pledge of its Responsible Scaling Policy, arguing that pausing while others advance makes the world less safe. Meanwhile, MIRI abandoned technical alignment research entirely, pivoting to policy advocacy.
If even the builders and watchdogs are struggling with control, what governance structures remain effective?
Aegis is our institutional design framework — it models governance structures for maintaining meaningful human oversight alongside ASI-class systems.

- How do international agreements work when enforcement requires understanding systems no human fully comprehends?

Post-Scarcity Value Theory

If ASI enables radical material abundance, our current economic models stop working. A 2025 systematic review of "post-labor economics" found that traditional theories of distributive justice — whether Lockean or Marxist — collapse when production requires minimal human input.
Axiom is our theoretical modeling toolkit for value, exchange, and purpose beyond material scarcity.

Our Methodology
We are not a technology company. We do not build AI systems. We study what happens when others do.

Cognitive Sovereignty

The Problem of Cognitive Sovereignty

Abstract
As AI systems become capable of generating arguments more persuasive than those of any human, the concept of "thinking for yourself" requires redefinition. This note outlines the research agenda for cognitive sovereignty — the ability of an individual to form and maintain beliefs through their own reasoning rather than through AI-mediated persuasion.
The Landscape
Consider a world where:
- An AI assistant can construct a more compelling argument for any position than you can construct for your own
- News summaries, policy analyses, and scientific interpretations are generated by systems whose reasoning you cannot fully audit
- The cognitive cost of verifying AI-generated claims exceeds the cognitive cost of accepting them
This is not a hypothetical. Elements of this landscape already exist. The question is not whether we arrive here, but how quickly — and whether we arrive prepared.
Three Research Questions
1. What constitutes independent judgment in an AI-saturated environment?
The Enlightenment ideal of autonomous reason assumed a world where information sources were identifiable and finite. When the primary source of analyzed information is a system that can tailor its output to your cognitive profile, the traditional model breaks down. We need new definitions.
2. Can cognitive defenses be designed without reducing capability?
The obvious response — "just don't use AI" — is not a defense. It's a retreat. The challenge is to develop frameworks that allow individuals to leverage AI's analytical power while maintaining epistemic independence. This requires understanding the specific mechanisms through which AI-generated content bypasses critical evaluation.
3. What institutional safeguards are possible?
Individual cognitive defense is necessary but insufficient. Institutions — media, education, governance — need structural adaptations. What does journalism look like when AI can generate plausible expert commentary on any topic? What does education look like when students can access perfect tutoring but lose the capacity for independent inquiry?
Methodology
This project combines:
- Cognitive science literature review: How persuasion works, how critical thinking is maintained under information overload
- Technical analysis: What makes AI-generated arguments differentially persuasive? Is it quality, volume, personalization, or authority framing?
- Historical case studies: Previous epistemic disruptions (printing press, mass media, social media) — what defended independent thought, and what didn't?
- Scenario modeling: How different ASI emergence timelines affect the window for developing cognitive defenses
Why This Matters Now
The window for developing cognitive sovereignty frameworks is before AI persuasion capabilities mature — not after. Once the capability exists at scale, the very ability to reason about the problem will be compromised. This is a defense that must be built before the attack.
